Description

It may be a predictable exercise in Hollywood formula (Samuel L. Jackson plays the title character, a tough, no-nonsense high school basketball coach whose stern demeanor aims at making more than one kind of champion of his young charges) but it's a well-crafted one, musically endowed with a hip-hop soundtrack that gives it a sense of time, place and urban edge -- if only 2/3 of this collection's cuts are actually in the film...

POPEYE THE SAILOR:1933-1938 VOL ONE - DVD Movie

  • The plot lines in the animated cartoons tended to be simple. A villain, usually Bluto, makes a move on Popeye's "sweetie", Olive Oyl. The bad guy then clobbers Popeye until Popeye eats spinach, which gives him superhuman strength. The fundamental character of Popeye, paralleling that of another 1930's icon, Superman, also invokes traditional values possessing uncompromising moral standards and res

Secret techniques to save a penalty kick

During penalty kicks, the pressure is usually on the player and not the goal keeper since, once the ball is placed on the spot, a goal is the expected outcome with odds stacked against the goalkeeper. The pressure increases especially when the scores are close and a scoring a goal in the penalty kick will turn the tide in the game. For this reason the keeper might wish to adopt different strategies to suit the situation. One of the basic strategies is gambling by moving early.

The main reason for the strategy of moving early is that when a shot is aimed into the corner, it will be impossible to save otherwise. There are a number of tricks that the keeper can use to help in which direction to move towards to.

1) Standing on one side of the goal
Standing slightly to one side of the center of the goal may disrupt the concentration of the kicker who may be forced to change his original intention. Only brave players will choose to shoot towards the smaller part of the goal. So keepers should gamble and move to cover the bigger gap.

2) Moving back and forth along the goal line
By moving along the goal line, the keeper can put the player off and cause him to misdirect the shot. However, bear in mind that it is very difficult to dive in one direction while moving in the other.

3) Trying to 'dummy' the kicker
As the player approaches the ball for the shoot, the keeper can feint to move in one direction. This action causes the kicker to think that the keeper is going to dive in that way. As a result he places the ball on the other side- right into the arms of the keeper.

4) Assessing the type of player taking the kick
Generally, defenders take fewer risks than midfield or forward players. They usually play safe by pushing the ball to the same side as the kicking foot. Tricky and skillful players may try to fool the keeper by clipping the ball to the opposite side of the kicking foot.

5) Observing the approach of the kicker
The run-up of the kicker can give clues of his body position as he strikes the ball. The body position is n indication of its intended destination. It is very hard to shoot towards the other direction that the body is not pointing to and takes a highly skilled player to do so. The odds are that depending on where the body is bending towards to, that is where the kicker is intending to put the goal through.

These techniques are not 100% right as it also depends on the skill of the kicker. Trick shots and high level techniques may still put these techniques off. However these guides are meant to improve the chances of saving the penalties.

The different types of company that produces them and what are the difference between the different types of coilover suspension.

Could a player use his hands to walk/stand during a corner kick?

Could a player do a handstand then use his feet to kick at the ball?

Is there a rule against it?

You would probably get a yellow card because there is a rule against high kicks. If it were at all close to someone there would at least be a foul.
