What would be a good way to search for the cause of fuel cap sensor going off?
It appears that the fuel cap sensor is going off and despite me changing the gas cap it is still lights up. Shops are asking for $80 diagnostic but I think the issue can be solved much easier and I don't have the money.
Check all the evap connections you can, filler neck, sensors, lines, fittings ect. Smell for gas. Most shops have a fake smoke machine to pressurize the system to 15 psi or so with detection smoke. The check engine light for a small evap leak can find a leak less than the size of a human hair. Its not always easy to see.
